Looking for a great resource to help your school become more energy efficient? Dream In Green (a non-profit org) has partnered with Alliance To Save Energy to help South Florida schools become more "green". Check out their website for to see a promotional message from Governor Crist and learn the details on how they can help schools become more "green": www.dreamingreen.org/project_school.php
Here's what their website has to say about their program:
Each participating Green School will form a team to carry out the program at each school. Throughout the school year, each school will be supported by visits from Dream In Green and will work together to reduce energy consumption. DIG will:
* Provide students, faculty and administration with 3rd party educational resources and tools, including K-12 lesson plans
* Coordinate dynamic guest speakers to educate and inspire students
* Seek recognition in the local and national media for school accomplishments and efforts
* Provide students and faculty with rewards, such as t-shirts and free tickets to local attractions
* Create opportunities for partnering with businesses and organizations that share our belief in the importance of promoting green schools
* Work with the School Board and local government to promote green schools
* Pursue available support for school greening initiatives, such as through EnergySmart Schools under the US Dept of Energy's Rebuild America.
The Miami-Dade school board is promoting this within their schools and currently there are 45 Miami-Dade schools participating. They are looking to expand the program into Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
It sounds like an excellent opportunity for all of us...
